Root on TTS (5 plays now)

Supporter

Everyone, I think we really need to try to set this up.  It becomes increasingly easier to play on TTS the more I play on there.  And honestly with the voice chat function either in Discord or in the App itself it's really fun (especially during these quarantine days).

Last nights game was so tight (I'll share a picture below).

You almost persuade me to buy tts.

Dude.  It's $10, do it.

It's $20

Oh shoot, it was on sale I think last week.  Sorry.

Yes it was. And I almost did buy it. Instead I bought physical games that I don't know when I can even see.

I'll need to figure out this TTS thing. I'd love to play Root again!

Yeah man.  They have a tutorial, you should try it out.  It's not exhaustive but it helps.  And I just try to ask questions when I'm in the game if I don't know something.  2 - 3 games in and I felt fairly confident.  There are still some that can maneuver quicker than I can but it's mostly easy and smooth.

I went through the tutorial and then played around with random stuff. Once I have time to actually play a game on there I think I'll get the hang of it faster.

Nice yeah.  The hardest thing right now with getting on with BGA people is that I usually can't start until about 9:30 MST (which is fine for @philryuh, but doesn't usually work for others).  Having said that, if you can ever get on at 9:30 Mountain time let me know and we can try to get a game going.

Yeah, that is pretty lake for me here in EST haha I might be able to swing it on a Friday night, possibly Saturday though.

Yep. And learn the keyboard controls! Makes things easier and more consistent.

I loved when I finally figured out how to make an arrow at a spot.

Haha so helpful!

Right?  I open up the Help menu each game and learn a new little trick or two.

Final score Woodland Alliance 30, Lizard Cult (this is who I played with) 29, Marquise 28.  I've never seen a game of Root this close.  And the Marquise player was learning the game!

Right down to the wire, I like it. Always makes me think how one little choice you made turned out to be the right or wrong decision. And it's impressive that the beginner player did so well! Although, the Marquise definitely had the most "reach" in this one throughout the game, right?

I did have the great benefit though of picking the Foxes first as my Outcast and they became hated for three successive turns, so I could wreak some real havoc early game.  I actually jumped out to a 3 - 4 point lead in the first few rounds (a big rarity for the Lizard Cult).

Also, do you think you'd be free tomorrow night around 9:30 MST?  Do you wanna try to jump on for a game?  I've found TTS is really easy to find other players if we only have the two of us.

They did.  We had a guy playing the Eyrie, but he was terrible and left early which I think opened up to the Marquise being able to gobble up points.  I think a competitive Eyrie would have slowed us all down.

I definitely made a mistake early in the game that cost me 1 - 2 points so maybe I would have won?  If I remember I revealed to place a warrior in a Fox clearing that I couldn't rule with the warrior being placed and didn't have an available build spot anyway.  Had I looked closer (I was trying to entice the birds to kill me for an Acolyte) I would have placed my warrior in a different clearing and then I could have built and scored on my next turn).
