Meeple Land Review!

BJ chats with Steve and Dan Letzring from Letiman Games about his recent plays of Meeple Land, an enjoyable tile laying, amusement park themed game from Blue Orange Games. It is designed by Cyrille Allard and Frédéric Guérard, with art from Tomasz Larek.

In Meeple Land, players compete to build the most exciting and profitable amusement park, which we are pretty sure is connected to Meeple Town by the Meeple Town tram system.

Thanks for watching!

As a huge Disney parks fan, they are always on my radar!

Nice! Maybe there needs to be a Legacy game with this theme?

Oh wow....call it "The Florida Project" and make it a six game or 12 game legacy experience about building out a "HYPOTHETICAL OF COURSE" giant Florida theme park experience.

hahaha! A non-copyright infringing Florida Project which has hats with round (bear) ears? Actually I really think a theme park could be great for legacy. To me that could be more interesting than city building.

I was actually JUST thinking today if there were any good board games about building amusement parks. I remember a buddy of mine mentioning #Danger Park but it didn't seem all that fun to me. Will definitely have to check this one out! Thanks!!

There's also Unfair, a card based theme park builder that I find is too mean and too abstracted to be fun for me.  And, my favorite in the category (although Meeple Land is pretty close!) is Steam Park, a comboination of real time + amusement park building that is a blast. The theme is building amusement rides to attract robots (yeah, kinda weird but kinda cool) and it has been a big hit every time I teach it to new groups.

I've heard of Unfair but would agree with your assessment. I'll have to check out Steam Park. The old Rollercoaster Tycoon playing part of my childhood appreciates the suggestion hahaha

My sons and I spent SO MANY hours playing the original, and then were bummed when the next ones in the series kinda lost the magic of that first one. I think they went for whiz bang graphics instead of going for the whimsical style of play that was the trademark of the original.

I've heard there's a pretty great game out called Planet Coaster. Very similar to Rollercoaster Tycoon from what I understand. I've been waiting for it to come out on Xbox. Per Wikipedia, looks like it may have come out a couple days ago!

Thanks for sharing! Looks like there was an issue with the link (if you click through, it just refers back to this page). Could you try again but when creating the post, click on "Link" and then copy paste your youtube video link in the box shown? (and instead of the embed link, use the typical one)
