What would happen...
I saw this question in another group and wondered what everyone here would come up with.
You mix your favorite and least favorite games together. What happens?

Mine's #Root and #Apples to Apples. Actually, the possibility doesn't sound too bad! Maybe a bit of Root in every game might do some good xD
But really, if every battle in Root had to get resolved by appealing to an outsider faction who should win based on some combination of luck, gift of tongue, or using some inside jokes, I'd go crazy.

Not sure what the game is (there may be multiple different ones), but that card game where everyone is playing cards into the middle and when something happens you slap the pile and the winner gets something. I hate those games.
Anyway, combining that with (one of) my favorites, #Evolution: Climate...I guess people add traits to their species in turn and when someone plays a certain trait, everyone slaps the middle and the winner gets to feed their species, haha. Sounds terrible.

Favorite Alhambra with least favorite Cards Against Humanity. You cringe and offend while you build walls? Then I would hate Alhambra too. Hahahahah. I also hate the Apples to Apples type game mechanic.

Building walls while offending? Sounds like a Trump theme to me if there ever was one (not getting political) haha!

Trump?? No he's not ever offended anyone.... It's just the lamestream media that makes it seem as if he has....
Just to be clear. I'm being sarcastic.

So you need to make routes with your mechs to control territories? oh man
Marshwiggle92 Supporter9 months ago
It could be sorta cool to not only control territory but also routes.

I'm not sure either... you have a round of secretly trying to get the best monster on your side?

That is true. You either have the best turn or start the next round from the starting set up lol

This is really hard, because I can not imagine a world where any game I like could work with Catan (that's how much I hate that game)./?
But having said that, it would be Root and Catan. Maybe someone can help me mash them together, because I have no idea how to do that.

Yeah I don't know. How do you get resources in Root? You have to roll dice to decide which cards you get to use that turn?

Probably a 8hr game of risk I played when I was 12 or 13.
There were 5 of us. One of the other players, Aaron by name, would win most of the time. So, the rest of us made a solemn pact to not attack each other until the last of Aaron's pieces were removed. We did it that way, and somebody else won.... But, playing Risk without any risk isn't any fun.

Haven't played that, only risk variant I've played is #Risk: Lord of the Rings Trilogy Edition.

You've got to try it... if you ever go back to risk. There's under water territories and Moon territories and leaders and special bonus cards for each branch of your military. Its actually a good game.

That does sound fun. And, though I haven't played any flavor of risk for years, I actually don't think it is a terrible game even in the vanilla version. I don't think it is great, maybe not even good.... But I could enjoy playing it again which is better than many other mass market games.

Oh man we did the exact same thing with Risk! It was an older cousin and we wiped him off the board before he had one turn... he was so mad and never played with us again.

Yes, this guy was furious as well. But, fun fact, he is now my brother-in-law, twice, I married his sister and he married my sister and we get along.

Yahtzee with Gloomhaven....hmm. I think that would be like going into a dungeon with a D20 in which only a 1 or a 20 kills anything and the lights are out and no one thought to prepare a light spell. But once you get to the end you realize all you fought was squirrels anyway and the one your buddy killed to "win" only created a huge mess on the wall for no good reason.
