I didn't get any gaming in at all. I stared longingly at my game shelf though...

I'm sure they understand you were busy :(

Supporter11 months ago

Nah... actually I thought I heard a "booo" like the witch from princess bride. They have no mercy.

I spent all week basically to sick to leave the house..... I didn't pay anything except

Forbidden Island

Star Trek: Frontiers

Both of those were solo plays last Sunday afternoon.

Do you often play solo?

Supporter11 months ago

I do. I imagine it is about 40 or 50 % of my gaming.

Supporter11 months ago

Wow. I’ve thought about giving a couple of mind a go solo. Maybe one of these days

Supporter11 months ago

You have some pretty highly regarded solo games. A lot of people love Robinson Crusoe solo. Wingspan is pretty good solo. Viticulture is fairly highly regarded solo. And you have a fair amount of games that support solo play.

Good to know. I’ve also been really wanting to get RC back to the table so I might give it a go.

Sorry that you’ve been ill! At least you had board games to keep you company.

Two sessions this week including one at a local board gaming restaurant:

  • Brass: Birmingham: One of my all time favourites.  Planning on trying to get this to the table a lot more.
  • Condottiere: Another favourite.  Always some laughs and the game play with 5 is intriguing.
  • Love Letter (2019 Edition): Ton of fun.  Definitely the best version of the core game!
  • Just One: A lot of fun built in to a simple concept!  Great for the dinner table.
  • Hamsterrolle: Simple dexterity game that had a good bit of strategy to it.  Got some good laughs at the table while people were trying to make some ridiculous balancing acts happen.
  • Codenames: The classic and still fun.

Great week of gaming!

Nice.  Do they have beer at the restaurant.  I'm very lucky to have a board gaming bar near me.

Yup, they have alcohol, the food was pretty darn good and the prices on the food and board games were really good as well.

"Board gaming restaurant"? How was that experience and their selections? I've been to a cafe before but not to a restaurant

We have a FLGS that has a gaming library of 250+ games.  I'm hoping to get a day over there to try out a few games they have.

The experience was great!  We mostly played our own games but they have a selection of a few hundred games so lots to choose from.

I don't know if I'd want to play a massive table spanning game while trying to eat dinner but otherwise it was great.

Nice list of games! Well done.

Brass is sooooo good.

One of my favourites!

Got to play Everdell: Pearlbrook, PARKS, Azul, Codenames: Pictures and Dixit.

Supporter11 months ago

Great week of gaming! Everdell and Parks are both high on my wish list!

How was Everdell with the expansion?

Supporter11 months ago

It definitely provides some challenges that Everdell by itself doesn't have. I really enjoy having the Wonders replace the basic event. The Wonders are the big point items that you want to try and get before someone else. They are the best thing to use your pearls on. It all flows really well together and definitely feels like it belongs in the Everdell world. I am looking forward more to Bellfaire and Spirecrest, I think I will like those better than Pearlbrook. Overall  I believe Pearlbrook is a solid expansion and adds quite a bit of game. The worst part for me is the pearls are a little hard to pick up off the board. I believe if I just found some type of small container it would help with getting them from the supply (as well as set up/clean up).

Sweet! I have a pre-order for the 2 newest ones, and plan to buy Pearlbrook (probably before those ship). I love Everdell and can't wait to see more of it!

Supporter11 months ago

That's awesome. I am trying to be patient why I wait for them as well. I think Spirecrest is going to be my favorite of all of them but Bellfaire also adds quite a bit especially with unique player powers. I also think James A. Wilson is working on another expansion for the right side of the board, so if that works out I can't wait to see what it is as well.

Oh really? Wow, there's a lot for this game! I even splurged and bought the wooden Evertree...

Supporter11 months ago

I still have the cardboard one and I don't use it that often because I know if I keep using it the tree will start wearing out. I have only used the tree a handful of times, although I do love the idea of it and how it fits in with the board. Although now since my cards are sleeved I don't think it would fit too well with the tree anyway. The wooden tree should hold up pretty well though.

Do you store the game + Pearlbrook in the base box? I'd love to be able to keep all 3 expansions in the main box, as well as sleeve my cards, but I'm not sure how realistic that is.
