Finally got in a full game of Clans of Caledonia and it was so much fun.  I can't wait to play it again.

Bonus points for the insert.  Again not something I would usually spring extra money for but it was necessary for this game and it was clutch in setting up, running the game itself, and putting the game away.

I need someone who owns and knows how to play to teach me this game lol

This is on my "I DEFINITELY want to play this game" list.

Supporter13 months ago

Oh man, add it to the top of that list.  It's so engaging.  I loved the theme, the components, the game play.  Scoring was a little annoying, but not too much.

The box is also so small! Very appealing. What made the scoring annoying?

Supporter13 months ago

Yeah it's pretty stuffed into the box, but totally worth it.  There are just like 7 - 8 things that add to your score so you have to figure things out.  But it wasn't too bad, it just wasn't as quick as some other games.

Ya that makes sense, sometimes you just want to know!

I did acquire a few games this week but no plays.

1 game of Scythe

2 games of Star Wars Rebelion

And 2 games of King of Tokyo.

It was my first time playing rebelion and I guess I need to figure out a strategy with the rebels. I got stomped in the first game. The second game went better but the objectives seem really hard to complete.

I believe we have a number of Rebellion experts in the forum :)

Welcome to the forum by the way!

I mentioned this in my MOX write up but I played EverdellWelcome to... twice, Karuba,  and Morels.

I have been playing Sprawlopolis quite a bit as well! It has been a good week!

Just played Everdell for the first time! Loved it! I think we're playing again tonight...

Had a game day on Saturday and played:

  • Scythe with all the goodies except the modular board.  It was my first 6 player game but we still got through it in about 2 1/2 hours as all players were experienced.  We ended up with the "backup plan" end game condition.  When the game was ended the first time I was in third but the person who placed the 6th star didn't have the most points so we had one last turn.  I managed 2 more stars and some more territory for a 20 point round and the win!
  • Growl was our post Scythe game.  We played it twice and everyone quite enjoyed it.  I got a $10 bare bones version at SHUX and I'm glad I did.  It's social deduction but with enough information that it's more than a pure guessing game.  Definitely a great one to bring out with a large table after a heavier game.

Nice on Scythe.  Did you try having the next person start their turn during the active players lower row action?  We started doing this and we played with 7 in less than 2 hours.

Yeah, we were pretty good at passing things along.  We had some players that hadn't played a lot and a bit of AP here and there but I was pretty happy with the speed overall.

Only got in one game this week: Richard the Lionheart. Anyone else play it? I didn't know what to expect, but I liked the "team" aspect of it, even though there was still one clear winner.

Supporter13 months ago

I haven't played it but will have to look it up.

I, again, had very little time free for gaming. I did squeeze in....

1 game of Lost Cities

2 games of Race for the Galaxy

1 game of Agricola Revised Edition

That's not a bad week of gaming!

Played my first game of Disney Villainous with my wife and another couple. It was a lot of fun! I played as Captain Hook and felt like I had a pretty good handle on it, but my wife won as Dr. Facilier before Peter Pan ever even appeared out of my fate deck!

Got a deal on a secondhand copy of Everdell, which I was very excited about, having wanted to play it for a while now. We only got to play about half a game, but it was a lot of fun, and my wife enjoyed it too, which means it will be easy to get to the table! Yay! Only thing is the setup takes a bit because of the tree. Not a big deal though. Will definitely be getting another game or two in the next couple days!
