I will start. I miss making a move and hearing someone go "NOOO YOU SUCK". That always bring great joy to my heart, means I am doing something right!! You just do not get that same satisfaction in digital gaming.
What about you??

I mostly miss going out to visit the local game store during off hours like when the kids are in school so the manager (and the only employee from 10a to 3p when school lets out) could riff on which games I might like based on what I currently play. It was his personal mission to cultivate my game wish-list perfectly, and that doesn't work as well online. I brought soft pretzels, and he brought at least an hour of entertainment.

That's awesome, I'd love to support a store like that. I also enjoyed going to my store after work hours. It's only a 5 minute drive from work (everything's close together in San Luis Obispo) so I'd visit half of the week and check on their shelf for used board games. Horrible selections though so it was mostly just browsing just to have a quick downtime before heading home.

It would be pretty dangerous to have something that customized!! and personal!! Those every day visits would be hard Phil lol.
Man it sounds like you got a pretty sweet set up! I would love to have a game curator like that lol.

I miss playing heavier games. I love Targi, Dice Forge, High Society, Hanamikoji and all the other fillers and gateway games we play at home, but I do miss games like Through the Ages, Gaia Project and Underwater Cities.
I am right there with you. I pulled out Gaia Project for a solo play through the other day and I for sure missed the deep thinking!

I really miss the hanging out before and after. I also do miss Set Up and Tear Down (some of the time). It was nice at the end of a 90 minute Scythe game to just click exit and not have to put everything away.
Having said that, I still would rather pick up. I miss the tactile aspects of games. This is one of the main things that drew me to board games. The quarantine have pushed me back to play a little bit of PS 3 (one PS One Game mostly).
And I'm determined to pick up a Switch the next time they hit retail.
I definitely resonate with this, I love the set up and the anticipation that comes with that!
I do love seeing everything out on the table. So satisfying!
I set up Gaia Project he other day...it is just so great to get it all out!
That too I believe is on the way to long for my group to play list at the moment.
It is really good, a lot to process through, a ton of interesting decisions. I always enjoy my play throughs.
I haven't played with my gaming group ever since Trent had his second son. I definitely miss getting introduced to new games, trying out ones that are better at higher player counts, and just the fun moments that naturally come up during the game. It's been nice to squeeze in a few games every now and then with my family though.
Edit: OHH and one more thing. When Trent used to host, I never had to think about having to do the teach lol
HAHAHA that part about the teach made me laugh. It made me even think about how you get a little nervous introducing a game to your family...just hoping and praying they like it and understand it...so you just study like crazy to be able to explain the game well haha!

Since I've been working from home since before the lockdown, game night was always nice because I could get out of the house and see friends. I also don't play the same type of games with my wife and her family as with the game group, so I miss learning all the hotness and new-to-me stuff. But, I'm still grateful I have a wife that does play with me, so I realize I'm very blessed. Now if only my kids were older...haha
I think you nailed how I am feeling. I am thankful my wife likes to play some games, but just not the games that I want to play. I am thankful for what I am able to play but I like some meatier stuff!

Well, I think that there is not much in missing on the gaming front, hurray for solo gaming. But I do miss getting out and about.
This is very true, this is probably the prime of your solo gaming career!
Maybe, but, I am tending not to play as much as I think I should.
For sure, I have only played one physical solo game during this quarantine...kinda wild!
I almost have to force myself too play rather than being a vegetable.
I feel you on that!

I have been in Discord voice chat while playing on TTS, so I can still hear that kind of stuff.
I feel like I need to do something like this. It would for sure help in a lot of ways!

Hanging out with my friends.

Nothing specific. Honestly it's just the games with the people. There are some game nights that had to be cancelled that I was looking forward to, both for the games themselves and for the camaraderie.
I completely agree on this. I miss seeing people in general but getting together for a game night is special and it is missed!
We talk about board games here. Games like Codenames, Catan, Root, and all your favorites. Posts can link directly to games and everyone is welcome to join the discussion.
