Has anyone played a Pfister?

I have heard great things about Alexander Pfister and his games. Has anyone played one of his games? A LGS has a copy of #Maracaibo for $75. I have a 10% coupon and am wondering if it would be worth it.

Maracaibo is looking pretty low in price right now. It'd be a great deal especially if you have some store credits at Game Nerdz.

We enjoy #Tybor the Builder (also have the expansion).

I’ve never heard of that one. What’s it about?

It's a combination between 7 Wonders (choose something and pass the rest) and something like Glory to Rome. Depending where you play a card, it counts for different things. The variety comes from different chapters and scenarios (and the expansions) so it changes up from game to game what the specific objectives might be. A lot of game for the small box and small price.

Hmm that sounds delicious.

I've played #Oh My Goods! and #Isle of Skye: From Chieftain to King (had to look up what he designed). Two very different games but both very good. Isle of Skye is my favorite of the two, but I would never hesitate to play Oh My Goods again.

Is #Expedition to Newdale something that interests you then?

I've only ever heard of it, so I don't know much about it at all. After briefly looking at its BGG page, I will say I'd probably enjoy it, but it's not something that's clambering for my attention.

Interesting. I’ve never really considered either of those games.

I love his games. Maracaibo is great but definitely heavy. Port Royal is an excellent lighter title from him. Highly recommended.

Have you had a chance to play #Great Western Trail? Curious what your preference is between that and #Maracaibo. Maracaibo seems like the more likely purchase for me in the future.

I haven't played GWT, but my friend who has played both says he prefers GWT. Personally, I like the teme of Maricaibo better :)

Cool!

I haven't but I know @Sliddell11 got #Oh My Goods! for his giveaway win :)

I'm sure it's outside of the type of Pfister games you're interested in though haha. #Maracaibo has been on my radar before and is just outside of my short list. #Great Western Trail used to be as well but not anymore (for now).

Ah all games I want to play so bad... I haven’t been able to play OMGs yet sadly... I’m hoping to get a game in tomorrow tho!

Great Western Trail does not have a built in solo mode and also it’s hard to find. So that’s why it’s not on my list.

There is a highly regarded fan made solo mode. Not I also haven't played gwt.

Not yet... but hopefully tomorrow! But same here, the engine builder in a card game really interested me

Let us know how that goes for you.

Haha I know right?? I think it could scratch the heavy itch a bit... we’ll see... I’m hoping to play a game with my wife this afternoon!
