Warning, total subjective viewpoint incoming...

I love the idea of a Kingdom Hearts boardgame, but I am sorely disappointed that they are using Talisman as the base. Talisman holds a lot of nostalgia for me, and I own the most recent edition as well as the original version and some of the big expansions (ala The Dungeon), but, that's where the buck stops for me. Unfortunately, Talisman is an antiquated game that offers very little in the scope of compelling gameplay. It's complete randomness and lands right smack dab in the middle of Ameritrash country ... which makes complete sense based on when it was made and what games from that period were. No offense if you like Ameritrash games, I'm not using that as a slight at all, just a genre label, and for me personally, I will always hold Talisman in high regard for nostalgia, but low regard for gameplay.

I think the industry has a little growing to do so that IP deals can be made with games that have better underlying mechanics rather that just another deal with Monopoly or other big brands.

I've got no experience with Talisman but my wife loves Kingdom Hearts. It's the only video game she plays. I showed her this and she had no interest in it. That's gonna be a "No" for me then.

Seems like a good litmus test.

I was just going to post this as a follow up to the last news that came out. I'm not thrilled we are just getting a paint job but hopefully they will do a good job of it. I like Talisman and KH was fun even if I missed some of the old games and still need the story line ironed out a bit more. I think this will be a pass for me since I don't think KH has enough steam left in it for them to try pushing out any of the expansions. I think most of these will be bought up and left sealed as collector pieces for big KH fans.
