Lord of the Rings Adventure Card Game

I just got the Steam version of Lord of the Rings Adventure Card Game to review and I'm wondering who all has played it (physical version, digital version, or both)? I hear the card game is good, so I'm curious to see how the digital version is.

If you have played it, any tips into learning it? The digital version does have a tutorial, so that's nice, but I'm curious what others have found less than straightforward when starting out.

I hadn’t realized you just got this one when I made my app post. Glad you’re liking it now!

I’ve only played the physical game, which I hear is very different and more complex than the version released to steam.

LoTR: LCG is terrific, and with just the core box, I was able to get around 20 plays in, so I wouldn’t worry too much about expansions at first.

From the reviews I was reading on Steam the digital game is not even close to the physical version. This immediately squashed my desire to pick up the digital version.

That’s too bad. I wonder what’s different? Not having played the physical game, the digital one is still a lot of fun.

So far it seems alright. It has three levels of difficulty, so I'm hoping that makes things more exciting. I've only finished the tutorial campaign/story, but am looking forward to jumping into the actual game.

I’ve had this on one of my solo game lists for quite a while. It’s concerning (in a good way) that there is much content to purchase and acquire so I’ve held off jumping in.

Me too. I've always looked at this as a solo option. I'll be taking the digital version into consideration as to whether I want to get the physical or not. After the tutorial campaign, I already really like it, and it's just basic stuff. I'm looking forward to a good time!

I’ll have to check it out on Steam in case it’s on sale this week.

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm afraid I'll need to keep buying stuff for it. But, I think I'd love it solo.

The base set isn’t that expensive....

No, it isn't, but then you by another set, another adventure, and before you know it you're $1200 in. I've successfully avoided LCG's so far, but this one is tempting.

But you don’t have to spend $120 right away...

I beg to differ haha I’m always hesitant with these types of games. They can be a huge money pit. Even if it’s super fun...I dunno. It’s a tough one.

I got to play around a bit on my lunch today and I got hooked pretty fast. It’s nice that it’s already designed as a solo game, so the computer simulation is pretty dang good. I love Lord of the Rings so I’m happy to be able to immerse myself in that  world again.

Have you played any other card games on PC? Like Hearthstone?

Yeah, I used to play Hearthstone a bit. I ended up deleting it shortly after downloading it because it was taking up too much of my time ha ha

I’d love to try either version.  Can’t wait to hear how it is.
