One of my favorite worker placement games is Stone Age. While pretty basic in terms of go here collect this pay for points. To me it is still a game that holds up.

I like Stone Age. I just ordered the 10th anniversary edition because I like it and am a sucker for bling and limited editions.
I agree the game holds up well. It is on the more simple side or worker placement, though not quite to gateway status due to the complexity of the cards.
And there is always the 'love hut' for some base humor.

I thought about the Anniversary edition, but I couldn't justify the purchase...lol I love how endgame scoring completely swings the scores. I once grabbed over 150 points in end game scoring lol
Oh, and yeah, I make babies, but I am a bad father, I never feed them...lol
The whole starvation strategy is an interesting twist. I am conflicted about the game having that flexibility in it, but ultimately, I think it is a good thing.
Two complaints I have fielded from people are around end game scoring swings, and the randomness of dice. I don't believe either of these kill the game, but are just considerations of play.
I have starved people and have lost by a lot and won by a lot. It does depend a lot about what cards come out and how well you roll.
But there are a lot of games where you dont score any of your points until the end anyway. This should never be an issue in a game.
Agreed. The end game scoring is sometimes a wake-up call for new players. I have seen a couple people turned off by it, but they usually come around after another play. As you suggest, it isn't an unusual mechanic.
On a side note, I 3d printed some 'stone' bowls for the resources. They work really well. More bling. :)
Gotta love the bling...lol

I like stone age, but I dont play it anymore. I'd rather play Lords of Waterdeep, which is about the same weight.
Both are good. Lords has a good app so I play that most of the time.
