Let's talk about Dominion. Do you like the game? Is it the best deck builder? What's the best expansion for it?

I like it, but the base game is totally broken if you know what cards to get. the expansions are what keep things interesting

What makes it broken? Are you talking about the Big Money strategy?
I'm taking about how you can use a couple cards to cycle through your entire deck every turn, and buy multiple estates/provinces per turn :P
By broken do you mean then that there's a larger skill gap between new and veteran players? It doesn't seem like it's broken unless there's a discrepancy between players.
Unless you're considering broken in the sense that the game comes down to variance more than skill.
i call it broken because if you know how to do it, and you can do it first, you win every time. basically a new player trying to play against someone who knows the trick will always lose so long as those cards are available and that's something i feel isn't good to have in games. it makes a lot of people hate the game because they played against something they weren't ready for.

We play this with some friends. I need to get a copy to bring it to the table more often.
It's certainly my favorite game and I just got Dominion: Intrigue 2nd Edition which really brought some new life into the game after playing it probably around 50 times.

Prosperiy, Nocturne, Renaissance, Seaside, Dark Ages and Adventures are a few of my favorite expansions.

I actually like Ascension: Deckbuilding Game better. Though I could understand why others like Dominion more. I also enjoy The Quest for El Dorado because it is more than just building and optimizing the deck.
Orléans is a bag builder game that I like better than all the ones above. The Quacks of Quedlinburg is a lighter, but fun bag builder as well.

I've played a bunch of Ascension and really do enjoy it. I think if I'm going to sit and try and play 1v1 for a long period of time I'd choose that over Dominion but I prefer Dominion overall.
There is certainly a good case for it. Ascension has a bit more luck due to the draw. Dominion is pretty much always right in front of you so you can tailor your strategy.
Most of my Ascension games have been 1v1 as well. I don't really like it with more. I don't mind Dominion with a higher player count as much.
We talk about board games here. Games like Codenames, Catan, Root, and all your favorites. Posts can link diretly to games and everyone is welcome to join the discussion.
