Dale of Merchants in about 3 minutes - YouTube

Review
I think Dale of Merchants could be a grail game for a lot of people out there, especially those fans of deck building classic Dominion. As i'm personally not a huge fan of the genre except in co-ops, its not a game i see myself playing remotely enough to really get a deeper understanding of all the interactions. But i can appreciate just how much is going on under the hood in Dale of Merchants, and how deep the gameplay and replay-ability is. Anyway, a really good example of a game i respect and endorse but that i personally don't hugely enjoy playing.

I’ve never heard of this one! Definitely an interesting sounding game. I’ll be looking into it more for sure!

I've never played any deck builders besides #Star Realms, but I think I feel like I would like this. On Patreon you mentioned there will be a Kickstarter coming soon...I will keep it in mind.

I'd say I'm in the same boat as you. I think I'd enjoy playing Everdell a lot more. Too bad though, I can see both my wife and my mom loving it. But one big downside to any card-based games is that (1) my mom has trouble reading small text and (2) language dependent games are tough on her. If I were to get it, I'm sure we'd enjoy 2p gameplay but with 3p, I could see it being way too slow if I had to remind what each card does every time :(

(My mom lives with us by the way so it's a bit of a shame when I can't include her on a game that has her interest).

Fair warning with Everdell - there's a fair amount of small text on the cards.

Exactly :(

And it just won't work out for my mom. She likes Viticulture and that we can manage better. But when it comes to a tableau builder like Everdell I think it'll take too long to process the language and the combinations that it'll disrupt the flow of the game too much.

Ah bummer. I took a quick look, and I know it won't help with the reading of the actual cards, but there is a Korean version of the Everdell rulebook on BGG. I don't know if that's enough to make a difference, but it's there.

Woah, that's awesome! Really appreciate you digging that up for me. First, it's so weird seeing a rulebook in korean haha. Second, there's a description of all of the cards' powers toward the end of the rulebook. If anything, that means I could DIY something together if she wants to try it out. Oh and also, I love these rulebooks with the more modern sensibilities. Super easy to follow and reference and makes the whole process more fun.

Oh yeah the Everdell rulebook is great. And yeah if it was a problem, you could type up all the text on each card type and have a reference sheet or something.

This is a great idea! You could have a reference sheet so she could read that instead of the cards!

It would be tedious but it would work haha

The game looks great. I love the art, but I hate having too but expansions. How necessary are they?

Not necessary as such, this box comes with 8 animal sets, which is plenty of variety. But if you get into the game you'll be looking at the other sets rules that are in there and going "ok, they sound cool"

That makes sense.
