3. Easily

If I hadn't all but finished Gloomhaven, it would be #3, but as I have it has to be #6.

room 4 please. Root is one of my favorites and i was RAISED on catan.

Supporter9 months ago

Yup, for me if you put Root in the room I'll probably take that room.

If the fantasy quarantine house comes with other people who are fairly chill and like teaching new games to new players, I'd take a risk on room 4. I haven't played any of those games, but a couple of them are on my "try it out when I can find decent humans who own them" radar.

If it's just my usual crowd (me + the wife), we're going with room 1.

I'm a little surprised that #Everdell isn't somewhere on this list. I think it deserves to replace one of the "dark and brooding" games somewhere.

That is surprising, also no rooms have any Garphill Games which is surprising.

Why did you have to make this list painful to me... Here's my breakdown of each room...

#1, the least painful for the short term. Light, easy to play, but also not very deep. I love wingspan but can't play more than one game in a row. 7 wonders is great, but same... Dominion isn't my taste, and on the boring side. Yahtzee is fine for 10 minutes max. and Just one is a great idea, but I don't think would have staying power... Which means I can't pick this one as I will be bored 1 week in.

#2. I adore Terraforming Mars, so this room has promise, I would more likely add monopoly to the fire for warmth for it to add any value at all. Maybe I could change all the rules and make it not terrible (Re-design it if I had to). Codenames is fun for a bit and with larger groups. I hate dead of winter personally as I've played three times and died in the first 2 turns on all three plays... I've never tried eldritch horror and heard good things, so this is a maybe, but essentially I'm stuck playing only two games I enjoy and one of them will get boring quickly.

#3 I love Azul and Blood Rage, and I'm willing to try Gloomhaven, and small world isn't my type of game, but it beats the hell out of risk and monopoly. Smash up is fine but boring quickly... so far this is the best and it's not close.

#4 I've not tried Root, or Nemesis, so this room is hard to judge, but it has the best back end so far with settlers, splendor and PR as great choices. #3 is still in the lead so far.

#5 I really enjoy Feast for Odin, Welcome to is a fun little R&W, I'm only one of very few people in the world that did not like Scythe or Pandemic and I hate Risk... so this one I'm out on.

#6 I've not played everything in this room besides clank, so I cannot judge it, but also can';t enter a room for 60 days with games I may end up hating in the first two days....

I've ended up in room number three....

Love the thought process.  Once I saw Root in room #4 I didn't do as much thought about which I'd pick.

If Candyland were in any of these rooms that would be an easy choice...hmmmmmm.

Okay, obviously easy choice to avoid that room.

This is tough overall. It has a good spread of games in each room but overall I think I would have to go with room #1. For me I feel like I could enjoy the most variety in this room compared to the others where there may only be 1 or 2 games in the other rooms I would enjoy. Good choices in every room though.

Some tough choices to be sure. I would have to go with Room 6 though. I love Brass: Birmingham, I've never played but would love to try Mansions of Madness and Clank, and I also love Spirit Island and there is a lot of replay there.

Room 2 is the only one that doesn't have a game that is a strong draw for me.

Yeesh that is hard. I am torn between 3, 4 and 6. I think I see the value in a game like Gloomhaven in a time like this...but Brass will always call my name...

I'd go with number 4, if for no other reason than because of Root and Nemesis. While I'd love Wingspan from #1 and Terraforming Mars from #2...and Scythe from #5 and Clank! from #6, room #4 has some very good games. And Nemesis is solo as well, so that helps.

Wait, can we take one game from each room to make a seventh room??? I like that idea haha

room #2 hands down , with the exception of #Monopoly

Supporter9 months ago

What is #2 draws you to that room?

Well I LOVE #Eldritch Horror plus 3 out of the 5 games have tons of replayability. #Codenames I've never played but heard good things and #Monopoly can just sit in the corner.

Supporter9 months ago

Codenames would be a great break during heavier board gaming.

Supporter9 months ago

I think I would have to go with four, of course I'm assuming I'll have good player counts for all those games.

Of course, if it is just me and my family, than six is the clear option. Just because of the solo play possibility with #Spirit Island

Supporter9 months ago

Oh man! So many good rooms. 3,4,5 stand out for me. Probably would go for 4 out of those three, but really tough choices. Also this list distinctly lacks any Star Wars games.

Supporter9 months ago

We should space Star Wars games out through the rooms to see what you would pick.

3 - Outer Rim

4 - Imperial Assault

5 - Rebellion

Assuming that I'm locked in with enough people to meet the player count, then I'd go with #4. If not, I'd go with #5 since it has the kind of solo options that I usually like.

One more thing to consider. If we have to give each game the same number of plays, I'd go with #6 since it has the best "average" that meet my preferences.

Supporter9 months ago

I took it from the standpoint of, I'm here for 60 days and there are others here with me.

Supporter9 months ago

4 and 5 are awful hard to pick between. 5 is much better for solo play.

Haha! Having never played most of these, this is a tough call for me. Maybe 6? I haven't played any of them but I feel like those are some good games to play many times, with good variety between them.

Supporter9 months ago

I wasn't going to share this until I saw Room #4, haha!  If you saw my comments on a post last week I said my favorite game was Root and my least favorite was Catan, and low and behold...
