I feel like the theme is one of the main parts of a board game, and that even something like #Monopoly would be an entirely different game if it had something like a Lovecraftian theme were you trade cultists instead of money.

I guess it depends on if it is purely a resin or if you are also changing mechanical elements to match. As I think games with more than skin deep themes, if you were to change the theme without changing the mechanics would suffer significantly

Interesting question! I think#Star Wars: Rebellion would be totally different with a new theme. So many elements in that game are tied to the theme that much would need to be reworked in order to have a game that makes sense.
