played some Codenames online

It's pretty fun to play online! Sometimes we have fun team meetings with people in various countries and play codenames. Works well!

I actually picked up a few lighter games in the last week. I've been pleased so far.
#Unmatched: Battle of Legends, Volume One -- My son wanted a battle game where it was just at each other all the time. We tried #Funkoverse: DC Comics #100 Base Set and it wasn't fun or engaging and I sold it. My son forgot we even owned it. We both love Unmatched and hope to get my wife into it. The art is incredible and the battle is fun and under our control, not like Funkoverse.
#Sagrada -- Always like supporting local publishers, especially now, so this worked out nice. My wife likes SUDOKU and I thought my 8 year old could give it a try and it was a success! Not as engaging game as I'm used to as you can be pretty loose and still do alright. My wife enjoyed it and how it looked and I was really happy that my 8 year old gets it and can play with a few reminders and a little help. She uses the easiest cards and she's getting the hang of it. I'm pleased. I'll probably pick up the #Sagrada: 5-6 Player Expansion for the new colors and mechanics.

Nice, do you see yourself getting the other versions for Unmatched anytime soon?

I've heard good stuff about Unmatched. Sagrada is a lot of fun. If you enjoyed that you could try #Roll Player for something similar but with a fantasy theme.
I actually picked Sagrada because it was just a pretty dice game (and the local connection) and I saw Roll Player but I've got a fair amount of fantasy.

Jackbox with the PartyGameCast is as close as I've gotten to a board game since lockdown.

We've been doing some Jackbox games as well. Bidiots is one of my favorites. Which games do you play on it?
They have pretty much all of it, but there are a few games that don't work so well so they don't get played as much. Saturdays on Twitch! ThePartyGameCast 6-12pm est (usually)
I've seen their show around, but haven't watched yet. Looks like it'd be a lot of fun.

This week was ‘A’ week? :).
Both solid games!
Funny! Maybe I’ll play Ascension and Arkwright while I’m playing A games.
Also two great games!

- #Race for the Galaxy - over Board Game Arena (BGA) with @Sliddell11 (he barely won 31 v 30)
- #Clans of Caledonia - over BGA with @Sliddell11 (he kicked my tail, I am still learning what is a viable strategy here)
- #Karuba - this one is a new one, i bought for my wife and she loves it. We played three times and I won all three times but she would have kept playing if it wasnt time for dinner!

I see BGA is still working well for you guys! For Clans, the only strategy I've done decently with so far is going all-in on fields (to get as many basic good bonuses) and then producing lots of bread or whiskey depending on the need for contracts (and to pick up processed good bonuses), and then selling them off for end-game expansions/acquiring lands. How well it works still depends a whole lot on how the end of the round bonus tiles line up though haha. It's a game I've yet to find all of the strategies on, which is great.
And yes, BGA has been a great find. Everything is pre-programmed so that is great and you do not get rules wrong lol.
Ahhh interesting. I tried going heavier on the bread and whiskey but I did not make enough fields, they are just so dang expensive!! I will need to give it a go again. What is your typical score @philryuh?
I typically try to prioritize building as many of my fields until I can start building the distilleries or the bakeries, but honestly not sure if that's the right call or not haha. I think the reason I do that is because money gets so tight as the rounds progress. I just checked my logged plays (and found a nice surprise by the way that @trentellingsen did some major work on the feature hahaha)--looks like I'm averaged 104 across 5 plays and my highest score was 124. My scores vary so much with each play though, and I think it's just the nature of the variability of the setup and how it synergizes with the clan's power. It's a tough one for sure!
@Sliddell11 absolutely squashed me the other night. He scored 150+ points, it was insane. Either I am bad at the game or he is stupid good at it.
Danggg that's super high! He should share some tips here for me lol
Edit: I've yet to see a score that high even from others I've played against besides my wife.

Karuba is a fun one! I've played Race for the Galaxy in person (we own it) but haven't tried the online version. I have shied away from card games on BGA feeling like maybe the print would be too hard to read.

Oh good! It's helpful when games do that. I still would prefer playing online games on my PC to my phone though. I've got old lady eyes and my teens make fun of me peering closely at my phone. hahahahahhaa
Hahaha! Heck I am not even that old and I do that too :)
I am 45 but maybe time for some reading glasses post-coronapocolypse. LOL
Hey there is no shame in that! Just make sure you keep track of your "readers", my parents lose theirs, what seems like, on a weekly basis lol.
Ha! Yes, our parents have done that too.
We played Clans of Caledonia as well last week. it's a great game but definitely gets more clear on subsequent plays.
