Definitely depends on the game. Anachrony (for example) is much, much better with the exosuitcommander minis that significantly ad to the tactile feel of the game as well as the thematic game experience. CMON game minis on the other hand, while cute, seem superfluous and unnecessary. Other game like Sierra West and Paladins of the West Kingdom are better with meeples. A game like Scythe needs the minis to function.

I think sometimes I get so used to minis in a game that it feels like they couldn't be meeples. However, there are sometimes where if I really think about it I think a game could be great without them. After a lot of time I really wish there was a condensed board meeple version of #Western Legends.

It does depend on the game, but in general I'm anti minis. I feel like most games would function well without them. I also feel that most KS tout how many minis they have and that feels like it can be fluff over content.
