So many videos talk about new games, so few talk about playing them well. I thought i'd try something different with this video and actually talk about the skills and mindset of play board game better

Got a good laugh when you hit the attitude portion and it was like "Come listen to Uncle Jay give you some life lessons". So true though. And I'm totally going to use "have a sad" from now on.
Also, the bit about blaming the dice or whatever. I had a friend that would always complain about the ball when we played basketball. The balls too hard, too soft, too smooth. He was bad at basketball. I was bad at basketball. We all were really, but we were just trying to have a little fun but always the ball was the issue. In basketball as with in board games.

Classic case of a poor workman blaming his tools...

PS. "pack a sad" or "have a sad" is such a classic kiwi turn of phrase. Another one of our weird little idioms that creep into my language
Hahahaha. One game you can do that with is cricket. Because messing with the ball is a part of the game. And if you get a dud ball, it can ruin you.
I was a spin bowler, i wanted the ball the be a wreck covered in marks, so that went it hit the pitch, it would turn more. Being handed a shiny new looking ball would make me groan.

This was a great video! I totally agree with the shifting utility and understanding game timers, those are for sure hard to learn/teach. Also the impressions were solid lol
Lol, i have met and played games with the very people i impersonated. Im sure someone is gonna be right annoyed at me when if see that
I enjoyed this one quite a bit. I think the variable values of certain cards or actions at different points in the game is one of the harder things to communicate to players newer to gaming.
Yeah, its defintely tricky
We talk about board games here. Games like Codenames, Catan, Root, and all your favorites. Posts can link directly to games and everyone is welcome to join the discussion.
