So I posted about out of print board games a while back. Well, looks like at least one of them, #Ginkgopolis, is making a return!

In Ginkgopolis, the city tiles come in three colors: yellow, which provides victory points; red, which provides resources; and blue, which provides new city tiles. Some tiles start in play, and they're surrounded by letter markers that show where new tiles can be placed.

On a turn, each player chooses a card from his hand simultaneously. Players reveal these cards, adding new tiles to the border of the city in the appropriate location or placing tiles on top of existing tiles. Each card in your hand that you don't play is passed on to your left-hand neighbor, so keep in mind how your play might set up theirs!

When you add a new tile to the city, you take a "power" card of the same color, and these cards provide you additional abilities during the game, allowing you to scale up your building and point-scoring efforts.

Can This be true! it's a great game I've only played once....

At first glance, the game appears quite abstracted in comparison to what the theme is about. How was it from your experience? I should watch a runthrough of it this weekend!

What even is this game?

I know nothing about the game, but I have heard good things. What appeals to you Phil?

it's a very interesting city / tile building game... I wish I remember more, but I remember wishing I could buy it immediately and finding out it was out of print, and that was like 3 years ago.

That has happened to me a couple of times...found out about a game, then realized that its impossible to find...

Nothing whatsoever! (I have zero clue what it's about)

BUT, I did scroll through an old reddit thread today where someone asked Castles of Burgundy vs. Ginkgopolis, with quite a number of people who gave the win to Ginkgopolis. That makes me interested in it more since it looks nice and vibrant, and supposedly has more player interaction. At first glance, it does look more on the abstract side than I'd like it to be, but will have to check out a runthrough before I make a decision.

I am the same, I have heard good things about it but there is not much out there in terms of gameply vids or rules explanations. I might just need to read the rule book!

Saw this on reddit and thought of you!

Haha yeah, I remember someone here who've been eyeing it for a long time but I just can't remember who it was :(

Lol!

Lol. So what happened before was that there was someone in the forum who mentioned in another thread that he's been really wanting to get Ginkgopolis but sad that it's out of print. After that, I made a post on out of print board games and mentioned Ginkgopolis as one of them. But I don't think I ever saw that user appear again. Or maybe I'm just crazy
