A Sad Weekend...

Do you ever have a weekend where you want to play a game (or 10!) but no one wants to play?  Such was this past weekend.  No games.  I even offered to pay my son to play Viticulture with me but he would only agree to #Exploding Kittens (whoops, I forgot I played that 2-3 times).  This was one of those non-stop weekends of chores and doing everything but playing a boardgame.

How often does this happen to you?  Do you ever desperately want to get a game to the table and just can't sell anyone one it?

This seems like a rare one-off weekend but with school and other fall activities it might be that I need to start thinking about what to play solo.

Thank you all! I feel less alone in my frustration :)

Here in Covid America I have only the man-spouse with whom I can play games. He's not as avidly interested in gaming as I am - and in any given session is only up for one play of one game.

You are definitely not alone!

Games with the family are random and unplannable. When a planned session with friends is in danger, it really irritates me because the anticipation towards it is always very high. We foresee a certain campaign we continue and if one friends needs to cancel, we have backup games enough :)

I have been having those weekends for the last two months. LOL

Wade, you're so not alone. Brad and I have so many games we would love to play but life is just so busy. Even with Little Miss being on a great nap and sleep schedule, we're always so busy with house projects and life things that we're happy if we can get games to the table 4/7 days/nights a week right now. And some nights even if there aren't projects, we're exhausted we just don't have the energy to play.

We've tried to make sure we add some easy play games to our collection so on those nights we're exhausted we have some games that don't take a lot of mind energy to play. Last night, we tried a new one for that particular category: #Dragonwood

I was trying to set up#Maracaibo all afternoon yesterday but never managed to set it up completely. It was frustrating.

Ah man that's a bummer! Yep, if my wife isn't in the mood for a game, no games will happen, haha.

For what it's worth, Viticulture has a very good solo mode, lol.

I feel that! My fiancé barely ever agrees to play anymore it seems. Meanwhile I just acquire more and more games I want to play lol. Definitely try more solo games for sure

Haha, yep. I'm pretty careful about getting games I think have a reasonable chance of getting played. She's my top play partner so that's the first thing I consider when looking at a game: will she like this? If not, will any of my friends want to play this more than once?
