Azul - Introduced it to my wife and my parents a while back. Since then we've been playing every couple of nights. This weekend, we put dishes on the line and my wife lost (she was the one who suggested the bet haha). Felt proud of them because they're starting to catch onto the strategies and upped their usual scores by ~30 points
Root - Played as Woodland Alliance for the second time. Did better and built more presence on the map but didn't take advantage of its passive for being built for battle/guerrilla warfare. Gonna try more of a kamikaze style next time and be more aggressive.

Whattt, are you okay? I usually see a long list of games from you haha. Trent and I finally played Wingspan yesterday too
Yeah. Just a busy week.
What did you think of Wingspan. I enjoyed the theme and presentation, but found the opening draw and the early ability to get more cards for your engine to be overly deterministic in success.
I'm very new to engine-builders so I actually enjoyed it a lot and felt less overwhelmed jumping straight into it in comparison to when I played Dominion 2nd Edition for the first time. I also thought the execution of the game was solid in terms of theme, components, and helpful/unique iconography (e.g. wingspan info, random bird facts, etc.). It was a similar experience when I played Viticulture: Essential Edition, where it was my first worker placement game. I guess Stonemaier Games have been the ones to provide that solid intro into a mechanic with a strong theme and just the right amount of weight for me.
We talk about board games here. Games like Codenames, Catan, Root, and all your favorites. Posts can link directly to games and everyone is welcome to join the discussion.
