My daughter and I busted out a limited rules run of #Tiny Epic Tactics.  It was fun, we played a kind of capture the flag mode which she won.  Next time we are going to add a few (or more likely all of the) other rules.

I played two games of #7 Wonders Duel with a fried on TTS. Was his first time playing it and he loved it. He won the first game with a science victory and I won the second with points. Next time I'll show him the Pantheon expansion. Can't wait for Agora, btw! :)

My wife and I got 2 plays of #Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion in this week.  We are both new to this universe and are loving the experience so far.  She is playing as the Voidwarden and I am the Hatchet.  Hoping to get another play recorded today.

Last night I solo'ed #Smartphone Inc. and quite enjoyed it.  I ended up crushing the AI "Steve" and I'm fairly certain I followed the rules.  I will try again on the smaller board that is included with the Kickstarter and see how that goes.

#Wingspan: I think Becky and I play this about once a week now.  We love this game.  Our next playthrough we decided to start the game by dealing 7 birds to each player and drafting 5 starting birds (discarding the 4 unused birds for the opening hands).  We'll see how this house rule goes.

#Ecos: First Continent: I picked up this game to support local business and it turned out to be a great game.  More complex than I expected with better components than I expected.  I think we might even get the kids to play this one!

I think Ecos is definitely an underrated game.

I love games that create something on the board as they go and I also love the "expiring tableau" element to it.   You need to be able to adjust your plan to the tiles drawn and the board state changes which gives it a nice tactical element.

This is one I'll be looking to get to the table again once we can resume physical meet ups.

I got two games in last night...

Played #Dominion: Second Edition for the first time.  It was really good and I'll be happy to try it out again.  I lost.

Also played #Viticulture: Essential Edition with the #Tuscany: Essential Edition expansion.  This time I won, phew!

Picked up #Cat Lady this week and got a few games in. Some good light fun.

#Scooby-Doo: Escape from the Haunted Mansion - Def a family weight escape room game.  But very thematic and well written.

#Pan Am Much deeper game than I had anticipated.  Really enjoyed this one.

#Skull King A great Trick taking pirate themed game for up to 6 players.  Lots of fun.  If you like trick taking this is def a game for you.

I've been seeing good things about Pan Am.

LedBretter 11 days ago | 1 point[-]

I really want to try both #Pan Am and #Skull King.  I'm not a huge fan of trick taking games, but I enjoy them when they hit the table in general.  #Skull King has me intrigued because I love the pirate theme.

Played #Underwater Cities for game night. Surprisingly, I even won, and not by just a small amount. Usually, I'm dead last at these games. Very fun game.

Then yesterday we played a 5-player #Trekking the National Parks. Much different than with just two players, but still lots of fun. Glad to see it's good at both low and high player counts.

Pulled out the Star Wars Minature game for only the third time ever.

I finally realized why I never clicked with the game. I was not playing with a 12 year old.

Suddenly the game made sense and I had a lot of fun.

Nice.  Which Star Wars Miniature game?

We got the first two scenarios for #Aeon's End: Legacy completed and they were and are great! Very happy with this one.

  • #Everdell with Pearlbrook @ 4p. Played with some friends who will be moving away this week.
  • #Western Legends @ 6p. This was my choice of prize for the most recent BGA giveaway, and it was an excellent choice! I intend to post my first impressions, but for more I'll just say we all loved it.
  • #Concordia @ 2p. I bought this for the BGA fundraiser, and this was our first time playing it. I really enjoyed it. My wife said she's liked it too, so that's a good sign. I'm going to try to get her to play it today, haha.
  • #Horrified 2x @ 4p. Showed this to my best friend and his wife - they LOVED it. On the drive home I said to my wife "I think they liked it even more than we do," haha.

R0land1199 Supporter14 days ago | 1 point[-]

Ooh, good set of games!  I haven't played Horrified though.  I have heard good things about it!

BenjaminK 14 days ago | 1 point[-]

Western Legends excels with more players. So good! Glad you're enjoying it!

theDL 14 days ago | 1 point[-]

Yeah it's fun! Simple and easy to teach and it has a great theme.

sdirrane Supporter14 days ago | 1 point[-]

I don’t know that I’d play with less than 4.  I think it’s best maxed out for sure.

theDL 14 days ago | 1 point[-]

6 did take a while. Granted, it was our first play. 4 seems like it'd be fun, but, with time considerations aside, I do think that having it maxed out would be the best way to play.

Last night we beat the last scenario of #Gloomhaven

sdirrane Supporter8 days ago | 1 point[-]

Wow cool!  What did you think of finishing it up (no spoilers)?

Hungry Gamer New User8 days ago | 1 point[-]

Ya know the final fight was a little anti-climactic.  Enjoyable, but easier than we expected.

sdirrane Supporter8 days ago | 1 point[-]

Maybe you just leveled up to be too OP?  Haha.

Awesome.  Would you play through again?  Is the final always the same or does it depend on previous games?

Hungry Gamer New User7 days ago | 1 point[-]

We might have been a little, cause we had a level 8 and a level 6 and then level 3's bringing down the average.

I won't be going back I don't think, but I have Jaws of the Lion coming which is just so much more manageable I am guessing.

Just got in another game of #Tiny Epic Tactics with my daughter.  We added a few more rules (we just need to add counter attacks and tactics cards now).  She won 10 - 7.

Today we played Xenoshyft: Dreadmire.

4+hr learning game, but it didn't feel that long.

We liked it more than 3yrs ago when we tried Xenoshyft: Onslaught. The simple weather mechanic in Dreadmire makes such a difference, plus the Level 1 Rangers and Researchers seem more worth it.

Just got my copy of #Nova Luna in the mail yesterday! I ended up trying the solo version just to help solidify the rules for me a bit. I am hoping to play a bit more this week at 2p with my fiance.

Got a more typical number of games in this week including:

  • #Lewis & Clark (Tabletopia multiplayer)  First time playing it for me.  Reminded me of Quest for El Dorado but with more to it.  I got a good combination of cards and really took advantage for a win.
  • #Vinhos (Tabletopia multiplayer) First time for this one as well.  I felt like I flagellating a lot in the middle of the game but I managed to pull together a strategy for a 1 point win.  Really enjoyed this game and I'd love to play it in the real world one day soon!
  • #Villagers (Tabletopia multiplayer).  I've played this one a few times now.  It's quick, has some interaction, especially as you learn all of the cards, and I always find it enjoyable.

Another good week!
