Weekly Challenge #7 What's on my Wishlist and why?

Supporter

Wishlists show up in a lot of places.  I have one on Amazon, I have one on BGA, I have one on BGG.  They aren't all in sync so this is a great time to get my wishlist together in one place and maybe get a chance to be able to get one of the games on my list!

In no particular order:

You'll note I have a lot of expansions on my list.  I tend to get them for games I like even if I haven't really played them enough to warrant it.  Yes, I have a problem.  I know it but can live with it. ;)

So what's on your list?  Any thoughts on my list?  Advice for games I've liisted?

I might have asked you this before, but how do you feel about #Troyes? It's a highly rated game that involves dice placement/manipulation and I noticed you have several of them on your list!

I have played it once online not too long ago and quite enjoyed it. I don’t know if it is different enough to get it with all my other dice style games.  If I saw it somewhere unreasonably cheap I would probably pick it up.  :)

#Empires of the Void II is a really enoyable game. I loved how fluid control of everything was, almost impossbile to hold on to anything if someone else wanted it and usually too far away to respond if someone made a move so you just have to roll with the punches and capture places of your own.

It really sounds interesting!  If I win another contest here I'll definitely be getting that one. :)

It was a bunch of fun, plus the two different ways you can claim a planet (either politically or militarily) was a pretty interesting mechanic, especially as each gave a different bonus and it was often hard to do both (except right at the start of the game)

Have you looked into #Tekhenu: Obelisk of the Sun? Same designer as #Teotihuacan: City of Gods

Supporter3 months ago

I have not!!!  Looks like some research needs to be done and perhaps a wishlist needs to be updated. ;)

Ya it is coming out before #Tawantinsuyu: The Inca Empire

Seems like they're determined to make their games more and more difficult to pronounce lol

HAHA feels that way! They kinda have a flip flop pattern, Tzolkin is not bad, Teotihuacan is bad, Tekhenu is not bad, Tawantinsuyu is bad.

They will only stop once they find a name that is entirely unpronouncable!

That is true!

Looks pretty good!  I think I might have to add it to the list. :)

Nice! Happy to perpetuate the ever growing list lol

Gee thanks.  ;)

I don't mind having a long list.  My promise to myself is if I find something at a good price on the list I can just pull the trigger and not think twice about it.  Sort of keeps me in check while also giving me freedom at the same time. :)

You have quite the collection! I am assuming you have collected for a bit, but my wife's head would explode if I had that many games lol.

Supporter3 months ago

I have a pretty good collection for sure.  I am lucky in that I have a pretty big place and a set space that I have managed to squeeze a fair amount of shelving in to.  :)

The max limit is coming up though so I'll have to be ready for it.

Also, my board gaming friends have a lot of games too so my collection might seem larger than it actually is.

Lucky man to have that space!

So are some of the games on your owned list what your gaming group owns?

Supporter3 months ago

Oh, no the ones on the owned list are ones I own.  It is a bit ridiculous sometimes but I enjoy them as art and for the physical media just as much as the game itself so it's not so bad really.

I'm not a big owner to be honest.  There are people out there with 600 games, 1600 games, etc...

Oh I know that there are some people that have rooms dedicated to games, I will probably never get there so the 150ish mark is still a lot for me!

Supporter3 months ago

Yeah it is a lot to be honest.  My wife thinks I'm nuts but I enjoy the collecting and the playing and the physicality of it.

In the end I am lucky to have the space, the time, and the money to enjoy the hobby.  but ask me about 20 years ago when I had none of that. I earned it!  :)

Have you been collecting for 20 years??

Supporter3 months ago

Oh not at all.  I used to board game when I was younger.  Then I had a wife, kids, mortgage in a smallish place.  So no money, no time, no space.  That was the 20 years ago part.

I've probably been playing again the last 6 or 7ish years I think.
